Thailand's Hua Hin has many luxury resorts and spas but the Asara Villa and Suites is among the best in in this royal seaside town. Indulge in umitigated luxury.

The Asara Villas and Suites reception on an elevated open-sided building is large and airy so breezes cool the space. The check-in experience is effortless upon arrival bags are taken, tagged with the villa number and whisked off to villa.

This reception overlooks a sweep of manicured gardens scattered with trees and shrubs that fringe a large pond crisscrossed with boarded walkways. A fountain adorns the lake’s centre. The whole scene is instantly calming and welcoming. Upon arrival at the villa a bowl of locally produced toffees and a plentiful tray of fresh local fruit awaits.

The villas are spacious and cleverly designed to provide a good level of privacy. There are of course the usual amenities, flat screen LCD TV, well-stocked minibar, i-Pod player, wi-fi internet connections.

Both the living room and bedroom share a common patio with a cool plunge pool. Shrubbery and architectural plants provide adequate protection from neighbours when catching a few rays and dipping in the pool.

True Luxury

For serious luxury, the palatial Presidential Villa is unbeatable, it is a two bedroom beachfront accommodation that is a collection of three separate pavilions – a master suite, guest suite, an open air leisure sala with a steam room. The Presidential Villa opens out onto a private beach view. So grand is this villa that just setting foot in this space gives a feeling of like a multi-millionaire status.

Alternatively relax with a book, magazine or DVD the Library or just sit and relax with a cup of tea or coffee while enjoying the sea view.

Luxury Swimming

Elsewhere the resort’s massive swimming pool is a magnet for swimmers and kids, with a child-friendly zone and minders always nearby. Relaxing there is easy because of the large day beds with a difference. Large and comfortable they are suspended from natural wood canopies; the bed gently sways to and fro inducing relaxation as the arduous days activities dissolve into oblivion.

Asara Spa

Professionally managed by a former spa manager from the celebrated Chiva Som the Asara spa is a joy. Entering through a large wooden door gives the feeling of walking into a Spanish Moor-like sanctuary. The doors are a protal to a place of release from the world outside where taut and knotted muscles are eased by the soothing hands of an expert masseuse.

Asara Restaurants

The Asara's three restaurants will satisfy the most fastidious of palates. The Siam Bistro offers light healthy food along with regional Thai favourites. “Kampu by Choice” offers a choice of fare allowing you to tailor the dining experience by selecting the items you like. And the “Kampu by Design” offers an all day eating experience with a themed buffet at night. The offerings here lean more towards European cuisine. The food is fresh and delicious and the staff are attentive yet unobtrusive, eager to assist.

As the day dies with the setting sun and the velvety purple-hued sky sparkles with stars the seascape twinkles with the lights of distant fishing boats and even the frigates of the Thai Royal Navy moored just off shore join in the light show by being dressed overall in white fairy lights.

The Asara is a perfect get away from the hassles of modern life and manages to transport its guests to a world away from care and to enfold them suspended in a cocoon of luxury for as long as required.
