The elegant French windows give a tantalising peek to a passer-by of the Charlotte Street Hotel's lively and sophisticated restaurant Oscar and its inviting bar. To the other side of the chic entrance a window frames a private dining room with a large table set for ten. Leaving voyeurism aside if the passer-by was to be bold; entering the lobby they would be greeted by a striking bronze pup sculpted by the celebrated Colombian artist Botero and they might like other guests tweak his metal whiskers and stroke his shiny ears.

Every aspect of The Charlotte Street Hotel's interior has been lovingly designed by Kit Kemp. 20th Century fine art pieces by Duncan Grant and Vanessa Bell, lush colourful fabrics and hand painted furniture highlight the Bloomsbury theme punctuated by modern contemporary artists and furniture.
Glamorous Guests and Movie Deals at Charlotte Street
Ultra chic but at the same time warm and friendly the hotel is frequented by a sophisticated mix of international guests, media moguls and discreet celebrities; the buzz is exciting but not rowdy. Residents can have afternoon tea in the tranquil and intimate atmosphere of the drawing room which has a discreet honesty bar or library, both have open fires. The latter is available for hire and is frequently used for script conferences and movie deals.

Meanwhile emerging from the lift the curious passer-by checks out one of the 52 individually designed bedrooms . A large junior suite with huge beds and a plushly upholstered sofa facing a decorative log fireplace. In the corner is Kit's personal signature a dressmakers mannequin worthy of a fine tailored jacket. A Loewe flat screen tv, dvd/cd player and an amply stocked mini bar replete with gourmet jelly beans would surely satisfy the most pernickety of guests.
The sleek dappled grey granite bathroom has a double basin and a roomy shower. The passer-by espies not only the Miller Harris fragrant freebies but two pretty white piquet robes lined in towelling and piped with a delicate orange trim.
Sunday Night Film Club at The Charlotte Street Hotel
Downstairs the ever busy Oscar's bar and restaurant is a bubbling cocktail of hotel guests, non-residents and Sunday Night Film Club members who for £35 can enjoy a three course dinner and a movie in the hotel's luxurious state-of -the-art cinema.

Tonight the chef suggests three starters including a pheasant and pistachio terrine, fig relish: followed by a main dish of poultry, fish or meat and a delicious pasta recipe of clam and leek fettucine, ending with a lemon sponge pudding or a selection of cheeses with quince paste.
No need to feel inferior to the a la carte diners as the food is well prepared and from the same kitchen.
Charlotte Sreet's Hotel Luxury Cinema
The screening room itself is a very sexy venue mainly because of the uber comfortable red leather seating and handy trays which slide out of the arm rests for refreshments. No popcorn tubs or ugly cartons of coke here! Oscar cocktails are infinitely more suitable for the chic surroundings.Films are drawn from current blockbusters, much loved classics and indie movies and like the menu, change weekly.
The Soho Hotel and Covent Garden Hotel other Firmdale favourites also play host to The Weekend Film Club in their own screening rooms. During the week the cinemas are hired out for private showings.
The Charlotte Street Hotel is discreetly funky in comparison to the other siblings but no less exciting.
The ubiquitous passer-by is impressed and leaves delighted!
