Baden-Baden has the highest concentration of millionaires per capita in Germany. Many more jet in from all over the world to enjoy the spa facilities and famous casino of Baden-Baden in the Black Forest.
Baden-Baden has a wealth of luxury hotels but none as famous as the Brenner’s Park-Hotel & Spa and the Schlosshotel Bühlerhöhe. Both are luxurious in the grand hotel tradition with style and excellent service. Spacious rooms, extensive spa facilities, and fine dining come as standard.
Brenner’s Park-Hotel and Spa is located on the right bank of the Oos River with park-like gardens between the hotel and river to compliment the Lichtentaler Allee on the opposite bank. It is one of the best hotels in Germany with excellent service. Brenner’s is a pleasant ten-minute stroll from the center of Baden-Baden town with its upmarket shops, restaurants, and famous casino.
The around hundred rooms differ in size and furnishings but all are spacious and very luxuriously appointed. Several restaurants are available on site – jackets and ties required at the Michelin-star Park Restaurant.
The Brenner’s Spa is arguably the best in Baden-Baden with a huge menu of treatments available ranging from simple manicures to programs stretching over several days. Medical checkups and services – including dental care and physiotherapy – are available on site.
Schlosshotel Bühlerhöhe is for many well-healed travelers the first choice when visiting Baden-Baden. In contrast to the Brenner’s Park-Hotel, which is in the heart of Baden-Baden, the Schlosshotel Bühlerhöhe is 15 km outside of town. It is majestically located at the top of an 800 m (2,600 ft) high hill giving it spectacular views of the Black Forest and the wide Rhine Valley.
The Bühlerhöhe’s history is mostly post-First World War. Konrad Adenauer, West Germany’s post-Second World War chancellor, valued the peaceful and quiet location while the English football team made the Schlosshotel Bühlerhöhe its main base during the 2006 World Cup tournament.
The hotel has 77 rooms and 13 suites. All are bright and luxuriously furnished. Several restaurants are available on site but the first choice for gourmets is the Michelin star Restaurant Imperial – jackets required and reservations highly advisable.
The spa and “wellness” facilities are extensive. The emphasis is on relaxation and beauty but medical check ups and treatments can be arranged with the nearby Max Grundig Clinic.
Baden-Baden is famous for its casino and fine day spas. The old town is elegant and worth exploring with many Gründerzeit villas, luxurious hotels, and classy shops. Cheap flights are available to Karlsruhe/Baden-Baden Airport (FKB) from many parts of Europe while Frankfurt International Airport (FRA) is only a two-hour drive away.
